The series of cphace is an exhibition of manipulated photography works by laird. This episode of the series of cphace features the Abacos, part of the Northern Bahama Islands. The lush natural environment, some of which is under water, was captured with a converted camera that records infrared waves of the electromagnetic light spectrum that is invisible to the naked eye. The images are then cropped, flopped, and merged to create a new original image, then enhanced with colour variations. The process results in symmetrical images of organic forms with a central axis. Within each image, nature becomes less complex in colour, but its shapes, textures, and lines much more complex. Forty percent of the artist’s portion of opening night art sales has been slated for Art with a Heart in Healthcare, a local non-profit that provides personalized fine art experiences for patients and their families at Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Nemours Children’s Clinic.
