August 2019 Storytelling Open Mic at Hyperion! Theme: Schooled! Tales of Shame.

August 14, 2019@7:00 pm-10:00 pm

If you have ever wanted to tell a true personal story like you hear on storytelling podcasts like “The Moth” or “Risk!” or “We Still Like You!” this is your perfect opportunity.

Our EPIC August 2019 Storytelling Open Mic at Hyperion is coming up. The theme of the night is: Schooled: Tales of Shame! Do you remember those precious hard learned lessons from school that you never wanted? In fact, didn’t part of you think the embarrassment would be fatal? Tell it to the mic!

Admission is free, but a courtesy purchase from Hyperion is appropriate. The first 10 storytellers will receive a wood token good for a free beer, wine, cider, or soda – the night of the event or anytime!

Here are the rules for the event:

You have 5 to 7 minutes to tell a story that’s true, happened to you, and tell it live without notes or props.

Stories may have something to do with the theme of the night, but if you’re brave enough to tell your story – whatever it is, we’ll be glad to hear it.

Storytelling is NOT: an angry rant, for political grandstanding, or for religious proselytizing. Your time will be cut short for violating these rules.
