Healthy Living: Art in the Park

December 12, 2019@9:00 am-12:00 pm

Free

Timucuan Parks Foundation and AARP invite the community to join them for Healthy Living: Art in the Park will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens. The event is designed to allow participants to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature while they relax, observe, and breathe in the outdoors. The day will start with a one-mile walk, guided by an Arboretum naturalist. Following the walk, participants will try their hand at “plein air” or open-air painting or drawing. No experience is necessary. Art materials will be supplied, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Artists Abby Murphy, Kathy Stark and Ron Gibbons will be there to help instruct and encourage. Participants should arrive at the Jacksonville Arboretum at 1445 Millcoe Rd. at 9 a.m., wear comfortable shoes for the walk and bring a reusable water bottle. Nature Valley granola bar snacks will be provided. The event is free but preregistration is required which can be done at timucuanparks.org/healthy-living.

The Healthy Living adventure will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 12 p.m. The series is designed to promote healthy living by offering opportunities to socialize, teaching new ways to get fit and showing the therapeutic effects a walk in the park can provide. For more information, contact Felicia Boyd, program and outreach director with Timucuan Parks Foundation, at fboyd@timucuanparks.org or 904-463-1799.
