September 12, 2019@9:00 am-12:00 pm
Free
Timucuan Parks Foundation and AARP are partnering for Healthy Living: Fresh Air, Fitness, Friendship and Fun. It is a series of free monthly walks held on Thursdays in the fall in preservation parks on the First Coast. Healthy Living: Food and Fitness, will be Thursday, Sept. 12 at the “S-Line” in downtown Jacksonville. Participants should meet at the Emmett Reed Community Center at 1093 W. 6th St. at 9 a.m., wear comfortable shoes and bring a reusable water bottle. The morning will start with stretching, then organizers will lead a one-mile walk on the paved off-road S-line to the Sugar Hill mosaic. The walk will be followed by a presentation and sampling of healthy food options by the UF Duval County Extension. The event is free and snacks will be provided, but participants are asked to register at timucuanparks.org/healthy-living.
Each Healthy Living series will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 12 p.m. The series is designed to promote healthy living by teaching new ways to get fit and to show the therapeutic effects a walk in the park can provide.
