Healthy Living: Hike into History
November 14, 2019@9:00 am-12:00 pmFree
Timucuan Parks Foundation and AARP invite the community to join them for Healthy Living: Fresh Air, Fitness, Friendship and Fun, a series of free monthly walks in parks and preserves on the First Coast. Healthy Living: Hike into History will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Fort Caroline National Memorial. Participants should meet at the visitor center at 12713 Fort Caroline Rd. at 9 a.m. The morning will start with a ranger-led walk to the Timucuan hut where the ranger will discuss the cultural aspects of the Florida natives including the hunting methods, food, clothing and shelter. The group will then take a 1.2-mile hike on the LeMoyne Trail loop which will take people through the peaceful maritime hammock. Participants should wear comfortable shoes for the walk and bring a reusable water bottle. The event is free and Nature Valley granola bar snacks will be provided. Those interested are asked to register at timucuanparks.org/healthy-living.
Each Healthy Living adventure will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 12 p.m. The series is designed to promote healthy living by teaching new ways to get fit and to show the therapeutic effects a walk in the park can provide.
