Island Chamber Singers Present the Mass of St. Cecilia

The Island Chamber Singers will perform The Solemn Mass of St. Cecilia on November 18 and 20 in honor of the Patron Saint of Musicians, St. Cecilia. This romantic French work was composed by Charles Gounod in 1854 and is known for its grand opera-like style.
The concert, “Happy Feast Day, St. Cecilia,” will also feature Gounod’s most famous piece, “Ave Maria,” and will be performed with the 56-member classical chamber group, an instrumental ensemble and three soloists, soprano Lisa Flick, tenor Bob McLeary, and bass David Scheininger.
The concerts will take place at Amelia Plantation Chapel, 36 Bowman Road, Amelia Island, on Friday, November 18, at 7 pm and Sunday, November 20, at 3 pm. An opening night reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following Friday evening’s performance.
Tickets are $20 for adults when purchased in advance of concert day.
