November 16, 2019@10:30 am-7:00 pmFree
JaxbyJax Literary Arts Festival VI, a celebration of Jacksonville writers writing Jacksonville, will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 in auditoriums at the Jacksonville Public Library and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
Starting at 10:30 a.m. with a Student Showcase in the Hicks Auditorium at the Jacksonville Public Library sponsored by FSCJ, UNF, and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, the festival features over 30 local writers who either live in Jacksonville now, were born here, or write about Jacksonville. Poets, prose writers and essayists will read until 5 p.m.
Women Writing for a Change, led by Jennifer Wolfe, will read from their Rise & Shine! Anthology and present an interactive writing experience next door in the Multipurpose Room of the library’s Conference Center.
An after-party will be held from 5-7 pm at MOCA, with poetry by TAG from Yellow House, and music by Kinney Harold. Delegal and Poindexter generously provided a donation for light bites at the party.
Chamblin’s Uptown Bookstore will feature books by local authors reading in the festival on a special shelf near the checkout counter. Ron Chamblin has also generously donated funds for the writers to be paid an honorarium to read at the festival.
