To Aretha With Love A Tribute to the Queen of Soul – Aretha Franklin

On Saturday, September 21st at p.m., The Ritz Theatre celebrates the 20thanniversary of it’s reopening with a gala concert of music celebrating the artistry of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Top local vocalists from the Jacksonville metro area come together for an evening of rhythm and blues, soul and gospel music.

Tony Award Winner Melba Moore will make a special guest appearance, paying tribute in song to the woman who was her mentor, and friend.

The Ritz Anniversary Band, under the direction of Frank Cleveland, joins the cast for what will be an evening you’ll never forget!

Performers in alphabetical order: Crystal Capheart, Chae Clements, Amy Marie Cobb, Kayla Cummings, Darcy Brooke, Hallie Davis, Wendi Floyd, Bernice Green, Graciela Green, Deidra Hills, Lyric Law, Amara Powell, Godiva Simoic, Monica Timmons, Monique Wilkes and Alyssa Mashburn.The show is produced by Deborah McDuffie for Ms. McD Music.

Reserved general seating is $25. There is limited V.I. P. Seating at $40, which includes a private “meet and greet “reception with Ms. Moore prior to the concert.

About Melba Moore: 
Melba Moore made her recording debut on Mercury Records with “I Got Love”, followed by “Look What You’re Doing To The Man”. She starred in PURLIE, which earned her a TONY Award for her portrayal as “Lutiebelle”. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best New Artist.’ More recently, she starred with Beyonce and Cuba Gooding Jr. in the motion picture “The Fighting Temptations.” She is currently producing an album entitled, “Forever Moore” which will be released on her new label A’Moore Music, Inc. Presently, she is working on an autobiography detailing her achievements over the span of her career. She has a deep passion for children, especially those who were abandoned, abused, and born with AIDS and addicted to crack. She is committed to giving of her time to organizations involved with children.
