Bazar À La Carte

September 20@6:00 pm-11:00 pm
$5

Known for its eclectic nature and unique blend of artisan makers, performances, workshops and more, Gainesville’s beloved night market Bazar À La Carte is taking the show on the road.

This edition of Bazar À La Carte–Gainesville’s beloved series of artisan night markets–will feature 60+ unique vendors from the Jacksonville + North Florida area, several creative workshops, a huge art exhibition, food trucks, DJs + live performances, and more surprises!

Attendees at the Legacy Studios event will peruse goods from vendors and organizations like Chunky and Funky Co. and Watermelon Market, an arts and maker market whose proceeds go to families in Gaza and mutual aid efforts in Sudan. Guests can also take part in several workshops offering tutorials in mediums like figure drawing, sewing, letter writing, collaging and poetry. Cafe Resistance will provide a cozy corner for reading and relaxation, while BachataVille offers dance classes for all skill levels. An over-sized food truck rally organized by Aunties Outside is set to feature delicious options prepared by Chef Kalin Anderson of Feed The Ville, vegan comfort food truck My V Spot, and more. A line-up of local DJs curated by Inside Jax will keep spirits high throughout the night, while a host of murals created during the event will be displayed throughout the Phoenix Arts and Innovation District in the weeks to come.

Event organizers intend Bazar À La Carte to be a space where inspiration and collaboration flow freely among all in attendance, and at the Jacksonville Bazar, collaboration will reach meta levels: The vast majority of the event’s installations, activations and activities are being co-hosted by local creators and organizations who share the same mission but have yet to collaborate in the same physical space. For example, an open mic lounge will see the return of beloved event series Wine Down Wednesdays working alongside local event curator and DJ Larry Love and spoken-word platform Poetically Mic’d to offer space for poets and musicians to share their talents. A large group exhibition of local visual artists is jointly curated by Elevated Media, Metamorphvic and Jarett Walker of Trust God Studios. A screening event of local films, music videos and other visual media is hosted by LOL Jax Film Festival, with silent disco headphones provided by Hush Hush Jax. Finally, a series of photobooth installations will give attendees the close-up of their dreams with curation by Jacksonville photographers Kat Culture, Jasmine Clements and Corey Kolb.
