HEAVYWEIGHT Invitational Figurative Art Show at Florida Mining
April 5@6:00 pm-9:00 pm
Free
This is a free event with complimentary beverages. Heavyweight is an exhibition curated by UNF Professor Jason John that explores the Jacksonville tradition of figurative art, showcasing a diverse array of local artists who have boldly embraced the human form, portraiture, and representations of the body. Heavyweight features artists who pursued figurative expression at a time when such approaches were often dismissed or overlooked in favor of more conceptual, non-representational styles. With artists ranging from those with classical training to those involved in printmaking, mural art, paper, and street art, this exhibition honors the enduring significance of the figure in contemporary art and society. Heavyweight also highlights Jacksonville artists who are heavyweights in their respective disciplines.
The exhibition opens with a reception 6-9pm on Saturday April 5th, and will be on display during the Jacksonville Gallery Brunch Hop Sunday April 6th 11am-4pm. Regular gallery hours are 10-430 M-F.
