Amy Crane

Deputy Director, Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville

I consider it a blessing to live in a place that so easily transforms itself into lyrical, artistic beauty. This spot in Old Mandarin is one that I walk to frequently. For me it’s all here – light bouncing through the tree canopy; the river breathing and sighing; and from the bridge miles away, the hum of urban life.

Beauty is everywhere. Wet leaves on pavement. Trees in the wind moving like dancers. Laughing kids running in a blur. Rapture.

Owning beautiful things can be pleasing. But the ability to see beauty everywhere — that’s what I’m grateful for when my head hits the pillow.
