2019 A Brush with Nature

March 30 & 31
The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens (JAG) and First Coast Plein Air Painters will host the 2019 A Brush with Nature plein air painting event at the arboretum on the last weekend in March. Admission is free, with donations to the arboretum encouraged.
All works of art created at the event are available for sale, with proceeds benefiting the participating artists and the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens. Visitors can stroll along the trails to watch and interact with participating artists as they work en plain air (in the open air). Activities will include artists’ demonstrations each day, art activities for children, entertainment and food truck fare.
Since the mid-19th century and the advent of portable painting supplies, artists have taken to the outdoors. The plein air movement brought artists out of their studios and into the natural light where they recorded the everyday scenes of life in the colors and light that nature provided, forcing the stiff formality of the studio to give way to an entirely new concept.

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens, 1440 Millcoe Rd., www.jacksonvillearboretum.org/events.
