“I believe feelings are very powerful when transmitted through color and composition,” says Alma Ramirez. “Our subconscious reacts to our surroundings and the visual information around us communicates and affects our internal selves. It is poetry – a message without words.”
Born in Mexico, Ramirez is a contemporary abstract artist living and working in Jacksonville. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Chihuahua, Mexico. Her artistic process is based on the contemplation of nature and her surroundings, and the interplay of color and composition. She is represented by local and regional galleries and her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and the United States.
An opening reception, Thursday, July 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., will feature a Q&A session facilitated by local artist and professor Mark Creegan.
