Barbara Bredehoeft and Karin Tucker opened this iconic Avondale eatery twenty-five years ago as a cozy thirty-seven seat coffee house. “Back when we were a tiny place, I’d hug every person who came in the door! I was just so happy they were there,” shares Tucker.
Simi Winery: The Story
In 1849 the world, all in a rush, discovered California. Among the fortune seekers were two brothers —Giuseppe and Pietro Simi. They didn’t find gold in the New World, but they did find the Alexander Valley where they established a winery and planted vineyards.
Coop 303: Secretly Southern
It seems that all of Atlantic Beach watched with baited breath as the first Al’s Pizza location was torn down to its footprint and word of a new restaurant by local icon Al Mansur spread. Mansur’s Coop 303 now stands with style – and a two-story chicken mural – as the newcomer to the Beaches’ ‘corner,’ and while its name and artwork harken to its focus, there is more to see and taste at this southern-with-a-twist restaurant than its house specialty.
