Jacksonville Symphony Takes Music Beyond the Symphony Hall
“Where will the music take you?” Although the Jacksonville Symphony’s season theme is meant as a reference to each individual’s unique experience when listening to music, the symphony is also taking it quite literally. With almost five-hundred ensemble opportunities available between the symphony and the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras, the team is prepped and ready to take the experience of music all across Jacksonville.
Where Will the Music Take You?
At an early age, I discovered the transformative power of music. Growing up in a military household, we moved around quite often, and unfortunately, most of those transitions were very difficult. Starting a new life in a strange city every three years was fraught with anxiety.
My anchor through all of this was music.
Jacksonville Symphony Welcomes Courtney Bryan, Mary Carr Patton Composer-in-Residence
The Jacksonville Symphony has recently announced that Courtney Bryan will join its artistic team as Mary Carr Patton Composer-in-Residence for the 2018-2019 symphony season.
Where Will the Music Take You?
Although there are still many concerts to come in the 2017-2018 season, the Jacksonville Symphony has started looking forward to what lies ahead. This season truly has been a Season of Magic and we are excited to see where the music will take you throughout 2018-2019.
What Does the New Year Bring?
Although the Jacksonville Symphony has performed more than sixty concerts since September, the New Year brings the majority of concerts to be presented in the 2017-2018 season. With eight Masterworks, seven Pops Series concerts and reappearances at Daily’s Place, just to name a few, the Jacksonville Symphony is ready for everyone to have a happy, musical New Year.
The Community’s Orchestra
When you think of the Jacksonville Symphony, you may think about the incredible Masterworks or fun-filled Pops performances that take place in Jacoby Hall. From Beethoven to Bowie, the Jacksonville Symphony does it all, contributing to its overall mission. But an equally large part of that mission is attained through education and community engagement programs: the orchestra recognizes it is a living, breathing part of the spirit of Jacksonville.
