Dressing Downton Exhibition Opening Reception

tuesday, oct 3

Celebrate in high style at the opening reception for the Lightner Museum’s most anticipated exhibition, Dressing Downton: Changing Fashion for Changing Times, on October 3. This is early notice, but tickets are now on sale and going fast.

In Dressing Downton, thirty-six authentic Edwardian era costumes and accessories from PBS’s most popular television drama ever, “Downton Abbey,” will be elegantly displayed in the Lightner’s Grand Ballroom Gallery. At the reception, rub elbows with Jessica Fellowes, author and speaker on everything “Downton Abbey.” Fellowes is in her fifth year of global lectures, accompanying her latest official companion books to the hit television series. Her books, The Wit & Wisdom of Downton Abbey, a collection of her favorite quotes, and Downton Abbey: A Celebration, a review of all six seasons, are New York Times’ bestsellers. The niece of creator and scriptwriter Julian Fellowes, Jessica is well placed to deliver insights into the real-life inspirations behind the show.

Hors d’oevres, early 20th century inspired cocktails, music and snobbery will ensue. Period appropriate attire is encouraged. Parking is free after 5 p.m.

Info and tickets: www.lightnermuseum.org/opening-reception. 7 – 10 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, Lightner Museum, 75 King St., St. Augustine, 824-2874, lightnermuseum.org.
