An active member of the Florida Watercolor Society, Jacksonville Watercolor Society, St. Augustine Art Association, Clay County Art Enrichment program for Children and the Art Guild of Orange Park, Beth Haizlip has received numerous awards as well as being named the 2007 Jacksonville Jazz Festival poster artist. Her paintings range from florals, landscapes, and tropical scenes to still lifes and portraits. She is best known for her use of bold colors and her understanding of design and composition. Haizlip has attended many art workshops with renowned artists countrywide, learning the importance of good reference material, value sketches, strong compositions and the patience to create a successful painting. Haizlip has been an artist at First Street Gallery for over ten years. For this exhibit she is using her unique style of painting with silk as her canvas. With this technique, she applies the paint and it flows onto the silk, as though it has a mind of its own, creating beautiful lines and exquisite colors.

Opening reception Friday, July 10, 7–9 p.m., First Street Gallery, 216-B First Street, Neptune Beach, 241-6928.
