june 18–27
The St. Augustine Music Festival will feature the world premiere of an orchestral piece commissioned in honor of St. Augustine’s 450th birthday. Jacksonville Symphony violinist and composer Piotr Szewczyk’s St. Augustine Suite for orchestra on June 27 will bring the six-day festival to a celebratory climax. Guest artists include Eugenio Urrutria-Borlando with Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major No. 21, K. 467; guitarist Steven Robinson, a festival audience favorite; and Andres Diaz with Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major. Founded in 2007 by Jorge A. Pena and Jin Kim-Pena, this is the nation’s largest, free classical music festival. There is no admission charge; costs are paid by sponsors and donors.
