The Many Sides of Pride

June 3 – 6

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Jacksonville and The LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida are set to host a four-day film festival highlighting the diversity of LGBTQ stories and storytellers. The Many Sides of Pride® Film Festival will present eight films at MOCA Jacksonville, from new films like Hurley (2019) to classics like The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) and including a Short Film Showcase with Buck (2020), Happy Birthday Marsha (2017), and Scorpio Rising (1963). MOCA will also offer enriching programming such as presentations by filmmakers, panel discussions with members of Jacksonville’s LGBTQ community, and moderated post-film conversations. All aspects of the festival will be offered virtually and as limited in-person events, free to the public. The festival takes place from Thursday, June 3, to Sunday, June 6.

This inaugural event is made possible through a 2020 grant to MOCA Jacksonville from The LGBTQ Community Fund for Northeast Florida, a fund established in 2014 by The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida. Totaling a million dollars in grants to date, this fund supports community organizations and institutions that serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning community in Duval, Clay, Nassau, St. Johns, and Baker counties. The festival was originally scheduled for June 2020 but delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis. “MOCA Jacksonville is grateful to partner with the LGBTQ Community Fund in providing this cultural event for all to enjoy safely both in person and at home,” says MOCA Director Caitlín Doherty.

“The Many Sides of Pride Film Festival is an opportunity for us all to celebrate the extraordinary contribution of the LGBTQ community to cinema,” says Doherty. “LGBTQ artists have been a vital and vibrant force in the art world throughout history, and this festival celebrates the multitude of perspectives and experiences that they share through the medium of film.”

The Many Sides of Pride® Film Festival takes place June 3 – 6 online at mocajacksonville.unf.edu, and in person (limited) at MOCA Jacksonville, 333 N Laura St., (904) 366-6911.
