Once part of Yugoslavia, Slovenia borders Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Croatia to the south and southeast, and Hungary to the northeast. Sailing the Turkish ‘Turquoise’ Coast

I grew up around sailing…my dad loved to sail and seemed to always have some sort of sailing vessel. I remember having a love/hate feeling toward the sport at times, especially after getting caught in a horrible storm at Porpoise Point—where the Matanzas Inlet and the ocean meet in St. Augustine—one afternoon. It was a frightening day that ended in SOS calls and a boat rescue. However, even that experience did not diminish my love of sailboats for long, and as an adult, the idea of sailing the Greek Islands and Turkish Coast has held a certain intrigue.

Mushing in Alaska — Wild Beauty

When I first told my friends I wanted to go mushing across the Alaskan tundra, most thought I had utterly and completely lost my mind. But to me, mushing across the tundra and experiencing the vast, untouched beauty of this unique wilderness…witnessing natural phenomena, such as cryospheres, sun dogs, and sastrugi…was, well…captivating, mysterious, intriguing. And my response was, “Why not?”
