A Day Without Violence Art and Poetry Contest

Thru April 15

Betty Griffin Center (BGC) is accepting submissions from St. Johns County students for the 2021 A Day Without Violence Art & Poetry Contest through April 15, 2020.

This project is open to all St. Johns County students in kindergarten through 12th grade, whether they attend public school, private school or are home-schooled. Eligible artwork must be in color and able to be reproduced at 8 x 10, suitable for framing. All original 2D media is acceptable. The theme “A Day Without Violence” must be reflected in the art or words. Cash prizes are awarded for the winners, who are selected by a group of independent artists.

“We received more than 1,000 entries last year, and hope to engage even more students this year,” said BGC CEO Joyce Mahr. “Through the contest, we’re able to introduce many students to the importance of nonviolence – and create a calendar that keeps the issue top-of-mind among students and the general public throughout the year, since its distributed to every classroom in St. Johns County.”

Contest application and artwork/poetry drop-off locations can be found at bettygriffincenter.org/day-without-violence-calendar-contest/. For information, call (904) 808-8544.
