First Coast Opera 2018 Double Feature

feb 10 – 11

First Coast Opera continues its 2017-2018 season with a double bill — one of opera’s most popular and passionate tragedies paired with a newer work by the company’s artistic director, Curtis Tucker. Ruggero Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci and Curtis Tucker’s The Stranger’s Tale will be performed at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium.

I Pagliacci will feature returning artist Jamison Walker singing the famous aria “Vesti la giubba.” Sarah Beckham-Turner will appear as Nedda, with Sean Stork as Tonio, and Daniel Bates as Beppe.

Soprano Elena Galvan, recently a young artist with Florida Grand Opera in Miami, makes her company debut in The Stranger’s Tale, described in Opera News after its 2005 premiere as “a sincere, humane tale” and “an immense hit with the audience.”

7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium, 14 Granada St., St. Augustine, (904) 417-5555. Tickets may be ordered through www.firstcoastopera.com.
